Surrey Psychotherapy & Wellness Centre

Trauma-informed, culturally responsive counselling for adults, couples, and families in Surrey, BC — and virtually across British Columbia.

Why SPWC Exists

S.P.W.C. was created to offer therapy that honours the full context of a person’s life — culture, family systems, lived experience, and relational history.

We believe mental health does not exist outside of social and systemic realities. Healing happens in relationship — to self, to story, to community.

Our intention is to provide care that is structured yet collaborative, clinically grounded yet culturally aware.

What Guides Our Work

Trauma-Informed Care

We understand how the nervous system adapts to survive. Our work prioritizes safety, pacing, and regulation.

Collaborative & Relational

Therapy is not directive or prescriptive. We work in partnership, honouring your lived wisdom.

Culturally Responsive Practice

We acknowledge how culture, migration, family expectations, and intergenerational patterns shape mental health.

Evidence-Based & Context-Aware

Our approach integrates structured therapeutic models while remaining responsive to individual realities.

Who We Serve

We work with individuals, couples, and families navigating:

  • Complex trauma and PTSD

  • Anxiety and nervous system dysregulation

  • Reproductive trauma and perinatal loss

  • Relationship challenges and attachment injuries

  • Cultural identity and intergenerational conflict

  • Burnout among high-achieving professionals

Sessions are available in-person in Surrey and virtually across British Columbia.

Meet the Founder

Meet Preet Johal

Preet Johal is the founder of Surrey Psychotherapy & Wellness Centre.
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, her work focuses on trauma-informed and culturally responsive therapy for individuals, couples, and families.

Her approach integrates clinical training with an understanding of culture, identity, and relational experiences that shape mental health.

Growing With Intention

SPWC is built with long-term care in mind. Our vision is to cultivate a team of clinicians who bring strong clinical training and meaningful lived experience into their work.

As the clinic grows, our commitment remains the same: thoughtful, culturally aware, trauma-informed care that honours the complexity of each client’s story.

S.P.W.C. Surrey Psychotherapy and Wellness Centre acknowledges that our work takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), and Semiahmoo First Nations.

We recognize the ongoing relationship Indigenous Peoples have with this land, known as Turtle Island. As settlers, we honour this history and remain committed to practicing with respect, humility, and ongoing learning.
